Boxing promoter Frank Warren has blasted the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.

He has branded the bout "sad" as the two veterans of the sport get ready to touch gloves.

It will be the first time since 2005 that Tyson has entered the ring, 15 years ago – where he was beaten by Kevin McBride in seven rounds.

Iron Mike will take on Jones Jr on November 28 in Los Angeles with eight two-minute rounds scheduled.

Tyson has been called the best heavyweight boxer of all-time after some ferocious knockouts in his prime.

But Warren believes him fighting Jones Jr is a sad occurrence.

Mike Tyson's fight has been branded sad

“It's on BT and I work with BT. For me, I have no interest in it,” Warren said.

“By interest I mean I don't like the idea of guys that age fighting. I know it's going to be a so-called exhibition match but I have no interest.

“They're obviously doing it for money and I think it's quite sad they're doing what they're doing.

“They should not be doing it, boxing is a young mans game.”

The fight was initially thrown into jeopardy after Tyson's opponent disputed the change in schedule.

"I’ve had to cancel other stuff to be out here, it’s upset my calendar, I’ve got to change things," the American told the Daily Mail.

"That’s why we have to table bulls**t now. That’s the biggest issue, I’m not a full time boxer anymore so I do other things to make an income.

"If I can’t do other things then I should be compensated for that, because it changes the schematics. It’s not acceptable.

"We’re trying to figure something out, my lawyers is (sic) talking with their lawyers, trying to figure out ways to make it a better situation so that I can compensated for it, that is more beneficial for me to do.

"If they don’t make it make sense, it (the fight) would be off."
