A supercar driver smashed into a grassy embankment head-on in a £110,000 Audi sports car.

The motorist appears to have spun off a 30mph road in the grey Audi R8 before ploughing into the grass verge and coming to a halt.

Pictures show the wreckage of the top of the range supercar which pumps out 600 horsepower and costs £130,000 new.

The driver appears to have escaped unscathed following the crash in Hulme, Manchester.
