Dr Ranj Singh pointed out that the shameful rioting in the United States further highlights how skin colour can be the difference between life and death.
The 41-year-old medic and television presenter had taken to social media after watching the shocking events unfold where hundreds of Trump supporters stormed US Congress.
Many have already pointed out the stark contrast between yesterday's dramatic scenes – spurred on by president Donald Trump – and the amount of riot police used against the Black Lives Matter marches.
Expressing his horror at the dramatic events, Ranj drew a link between the rioters' ability to create havoc in Congress and white privilege.

"If the events in America tonight have taught us anything, it’s that the colour of your skin could be the difference between being shot where you stand, or being allowed to do whatever you want," Ranj wrote on Twitter.
"THAT is the meaning of PRIVILEGE. I hope people get that now," he added.
In an earlier tweet, the columnist had also pointed out how little police power had been brought in to tackle the rioters, some of who identified as being part of white supremacists groups such as the Proud Boys.

He added: "Absolute scenes in America right now… interesting that more Police and military have not been mobilised.
"I wonder if the reaction would be different if these people weren't 'pro-Trump'…"
Four people have died and at least 52 rioters have been arrested after several hundred angry pro-Trump supporters, wielding Trump 2020 and confederate flags, stormed the building on January 6.
Incited by Trump, the departing president shared a video message at the time in which he said "we love you" while ordering them to go home.
Dr Ranj is certainly not the only prominent figure to decry the police response to the horrific scenes.

"It’s a good thing this wasn’t a BLM rally or else these a..holes would have actual riot police to deal with," wrote actor Armie Hammer.
