Kate Garraway has returned to Good Morning Britain to host alongside Ben Shephard after her "calamitous" Christmas break.
Her husband, Derek Draper, is still in hospital after a horrific coronavirus battle left him recovering from a medically-induced coma.
Ben said: "Welcome back, Kate!"
Kate replied: "Happy new year, can we still say that at this stage? It's the first time we've seen you, isn't it?"
Ben added: "We are going to catch up with what Kate and I got up to over Christmas , I know a lot of you are interested to see how Kate and the family were, as am I."
But, he added, it was more pressing that they discuss the US capitol riots first.

Kate had shared her hope that she could form a bubble with her husband Derek Draper for Christmas, but she admitted that she was unsure if it was possible.
Derek has been in hospital since March 2020 after getting coronavirus, and it has wreaked havoc on his body, leaving him with diabetes and holes in his lungs and heart.
It is unclear if Derek was able to be in a bubble with Kate and their children Darcey, 13, and 11-year-old Billy.
Not only did Kate have to get through Christmas without Derek, who remained in hospital, she also had a disaster at home.

She penned: "Well here we are folks – #newyearseve – the last day of a year few will be sorry to see the back of.
