Viewers of ITV's Beat The Chasers were left both annoyed and cringing during the latest episode of the show – while some did see the funny side.

Another batch of contestants took on the Chasers for the chance to win big money.

First up was Muhammad, 20, who revealed he was a quizzer.

As Mark Labbett and the others appeared to be put off by him, calling him cocky, Muhammad confessed he was hoping to raise money for charity.

But just as viewers warmed to him, they soon sided with the Chasers when Muhammad began taking swipes at the Chasers.

While it initially seemed like competitive 'banter', it soon got very awkward with many calling the player "rude".

Despite going on about preparing to take the quizzers down, he decided to go for the lowest offer of £1,000.

This meant he would only be facing Paul Sinha and Anne Hegerty with them having the least amount of time on their clock.

Mark called him a chicken, with Muhammad retaliating by suggesting he didn't need to beat Mark as he'd seen enough of that in other shows.

He also claimed he only took this option to wind up Anne and Paul, and wipe the smirks off their faces.

As they looked far from pleased by the player, with their faces saying it all, viewers were also a bit divided over whether he was entertaining or unlikeable.

He went on to beat the pair, but the Chasers claimed it was hardly a win given he took the lowest amount and challenge.

Muhammad then called Paul a "sore loser", not to mention the awkward gesture of him "wiping the smile off of their faces".

Paul and Anne couldn't help give a displeased look as he boasted his win before saluting to them, and leaving the studio.

Viewers watching at home were team Chasers, especially after Mark tweeted: "Biggest chicken ever 🙂 #BeatTheChasers and complete prat."

One fan wrote: "What a rude, ignorant a**e! Took the lower offer, hardly an achievement!!!!"

Another agreed: "I can’t believe how rude he was to you guys. There’s like no need. The level of disrespect for 5 absolutely amazing and talented quizzers. That he took the lower offer says a lot about him to be honest. @anne_hegerty ’s face said it all. #BeatTheChasers."

Beat The Chasers airs all week at 9pm on ITV.
