Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly quit social media after being bombarded with abuse online.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have apparently turned their backs on Twitter and Facebook after becoming alienated by the 'hate' they found online.

Meghan has previously shared her horror at the 'almost unsurvivable' abuse she faced while on maternity leave with Archie.

The royal couple also have 'no plans' to use social media for their Archewell Foundation, The Times reports.

The bombshell comes after Donald Trump was banned from Twitter due to 'the risk of further incitement of violence' after his supporters stormed the US Capitol.

In their last Instagram post the couple hinted at leaving social media

They have not posted on their Sussex Royal Instagram profile, which has more than 10 million followers, since March.

In their last post they hinted at taking a leave from social media by saying 'while you may not see us here, the work continues'.

This also coincided with the Queen banning them from using 'royal' in their branding after Megxit.
