Chelsea are looking at experienced options to replace Frank Lampard as manager after a poor run of form in the Premier League.

The defeat at the hands of Leicester on Tuesday night was the fifth loss in eight league matches for the Blues.

During that time, morale has plummeted and an expensively-assembled squad look like total strangers.

Pressure grew over Lampard after the loss to Manchester City earlier this month.

And another lifeless display at the King Power Stadium has disturbed the powerbrokers in west London.

Several managers have been linked with Chelsea with Lampard now staring at the axe at Stamford Bridge as Roman Abramovich contemplating the club's next move.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea are looking at experienced managers to take the helm.

It remains to be seen whether Lampard will make it through to the next match, which is in the FA Cup against Luton Town this Sunday.

Thomas Tuchel, recently sacked from Paris Saint-Germain, is the bookies' favourite to take over.

But Massimiliano Allegri has also been linked with the Italian keen on taking a job in the Premier League after learning English over the past two years.

Leicester inflicted a fifth Premier League defeat in eight matches, while going top of the table themselves.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are languishing in eighth and Lampard is coming under serious pressure.

And the Blues boss admitted he is worried over what he is seeing from his team at the moment.

"It's not where we want to be," said Blues boss Lampard.

"I am worried. From the form we were in to get so quickly in to the form we're in now, even with the Fulham win [on Saturday] and some other wins in there, we should be better than losing five in eight.

"It's a young team. They won't be feeling nice. I'm not against the lads in the dressing room. They will have learned a lesson."

He added: “There are players who are not playing as well as they should be, that's a simple fact.

"I'm disappointed with both the goals. We know we can compete with Leicester when we are are playing well.

Chelsea were easily beaten by Leicester

“But when you go 2-0 down and you are in a difficult period of form it affects the game hugely.

"The players know they were beaten by a better team, a team we are behind and one we want to catch. The general theme of our performance was slow and sluggish."
