Dominic West is going to Kenya for five weeks after getting caught up in a huge showbiz scandal last year, it's claimed.

The married Wire actor, 51, was pictured kissing Lily James, 31, during a romantic trip to Rome back in October.

And he's now said to have left his marital home in Wiltshire, where he lives with his wife Catherine FitzGerald and their four children, for a break on the island of Lamu, off the coast of Kenya.

According to the Daily Mail, it's not clear if Catherine and the kids, Dora, 13, Senan, 10, nine-year-old Francis and Christabel, five, have gone with him.

His agent told the site: "I don’t know if they have [accompanied him].

"He told me he was going to be away for five weeks and would let me know when he was back."

And they emphasised that West is not there for a holiday.

They said: "He said he was going because of Save Lamu.

"He's one of its patrons, so he was invited there. He organised it all himself."

Save Lumu works to preserve "the cultural and social identity of the marginalised indigenous communities" on the island, and is "raising awareness" of the "environmental, social and political challenges" facing its people.

The Mirror has contacted Dominic West's reps for comment.

In October he was seen zipping round Rome on a shared electric scooter with Lily before sitting down to lunch where he was seen nuzzling her neck and appearing to kiss her in front of diners.

Just days later Dominic and his wife posed for photos outside their home and insisted their marriage was fine.
