If you caught the Friends reunion, you'll know how emotional it was for fans to see the cast reunite on screen for the first time since the show ended 17 years ago – but things almost didn't go to plan.
Friends: The Reunion aired on May 27 and saw all of the original cast – Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc – returning to the original set of the show.
However, Friends director Ben Winston revealed that a mistake backstage threatened to spoil the special moment that the friends were reunited.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, Winston explained that he wanted the actors' first meeting to take place against the backdrop of the original soundstage at the Warner Bros studios in California.
Things almost didn't go to plan
But, he ran into problems when he realised that the actors' trailers were all placed next to each other on the lot, which meant that they'd see each other before the big reveal.
He said: "I was so upset. The point of the show is they haven’t seen each other. But it was too late to move them."
Determined to make the moment happen, Winston came up with an idea.
It went to plan in the end
"We built tents around each of their doorways. And I texted the six of them and said, 'Look, I know you want to see each other but I'm begging you: please stay in your own dressing room until you're called to the stage. I really want to catch that moment.
"They mocked me for wanting that moment. But they did do what I asked. And you do get the feeling that they haven't seen each other for ages. And it's a really beautiful moment. I've never seen a bond like these six have."
And it didn't disappoint…
