Simon Cowell is aiming to take over Las Vegas with a stage show based on America’s Got Talent stars that could feature British performers.

Cowell, 61, has signed a new money-spinning deal with the Luxor Hotel in Vegas and will use it for a big live residency that could last for years.

It is thought the multimillion-pound deal will offer shows twice a week that will feature the winner of AGT from this year among other performers.

If it is a success he may also extend the project and use Got Talent stars from around the world including Britain’s Got Talent.

Speaking at the weekend, Cowell said: “We open America’s Got Talent in Vegas at the Luxor this year. And Vegas and Got Talent is where they want to end up. We had a fantastic conversation with MGM who own the Luxor. And we agreed to do it, so it happens this year.”

Previously the AGT winner has played a few shows in Vegas after winning as part of their prize but this new deal will be a much bigger event – and mean more money for Cowell.

Sources in the US claim he could make £10million a year from the deal and a more formal announcement about the shows will be made next month.

Previous BGT winners Attraction were offered their own Vegas show in 2013. Other possible stars who could appear in Vegas and have been on BGT or The Champions spin-off show shown on ITV would include the likes of Susan Boyle, mime act Tape Face, Paul Potts, Twist and Pulse and illusionist Darcy Oake.

A Las Vegas showbiz source said: “The market for the AGT acts in Vegas has been successful.

“So it is no surprise that Simon is taking the next step.

“The market there is growing and the show is the US’s top prime-time show.

“On top of that he can use his show to promote these stars. This could work out really well in the short and long term. And of course an added bonus is that Simon could introduce British acts from BGT there by having them in as special guests.

“This is one of his smartest business moves ever. He has been working on this deal for three years, but Covid impacted the 2020 plan.

“Now, with investors and MGM’s support, there is a huge feeling this will be one of the big shows that will really bring Vegas back bigger and better.”

Some of Cowell’s biggest idols include Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin who played in Vegas and earned fortunes.
