Manchester United have made Jadon Sancho their top target this transfer window – but what if they cannot get him?

Borussia Dortmund have a "gentleman's agreement" with the England international – who nearly moved to Old Trafford last year.

It states that if their valuation is met prior to a self-imposed deadline, the Bundesliga club will not stand in Sancho's way.

United have made the 21-year-old their top target and are keen to get a deal done as soon as possible.

However, there appear to be problems along the way with one major snag being over payment structure – the Red Devils are looking to utilise instalments whereas Dortmund want a fee up front.

If a transfer does not go through again, United may have to look at other options – but who could they be?

Ajax star Antony could be a potential option for United

The Ajax star was signed as a replacement to Hakim Ziyech and has already proved he can be as electric as the Morocco international was for them.

Joining from Sao Paulo, the Dutch club were hailed for their scouting ability and discovering another future star.

At just 21, Antony scored 10 and assisted 10 in his first year in Europe and has already been scouted by other top clubs.

The Brazilian is valued at £22.5m, just a fraction of the £85m Dortmund want for Sancho.

Considering Ajax only signed him last year for £13m, that would be a good deal for everyone involved with the winger already stating his ambitions to play at the highest level.

Ousmane Dembele

The Frenchman has long been linked with a move to United but nothing has ever materialised with Barcelona keen to keep the winger.

But with the Catalan club in financial trouble and several transfer targets on Ronald Koeman’s mind, they could part ways.

Barca would have to accept a huge loss if they were to lose Dembele now on a permanent basis or on a loan.

It seem an eternity away when the Nou Camp outfit forked out a whopping £136m for the forward's services when the club desperately sought to replace Neymar, who had just left for Paris Saint-Germain.

But a host of injury troubles and problems off the pitch have made this a transfer to forget for Barcelona – who could prefer a temporary move away to drum up a transfer price in the future.

It means United could save their own pennies as they look at other expensive targets such as Harry Kane and Declan Rice.

Solskjaer has been desperate to sign a right winger but he may have already found one when Amad joined from Atalanta earlier this year.

The Ivorian has immense potential, which he has showcased at club and international level.

Despite big just 18, the youngster could be the answer to United’s troubles while also battling with Mason Greenwood for a spot on the wing.

It means that the two can continue developing instead of a big-money arrival stunting their growth.

Amad has won the favour of United fans already after scoring the matchwinner against AC Milan in the Europa League.

And a 97th-minute free-kick against Burkina Faso at the weekend has won the hearts of his fellow Ivorians, including national legend Didier Drogba.
