Inter Milan have rejected a £56million bid from Chelsea for Achraf Hakimi, according to a report.

The 22-year-old has attracted attention from a host of clubs around Europe after his impressive debut season in Italy as Inter claimed the Serie A title.

The San Siro club are looking to offload several players during the transfer window with the club's increasing debt.

And Hakimi is said to be one of them despite making the switch to Inter from Real Madrid only 12 months ago.

According to Sky Italia, both Chelsea and PSG have tabled offers of £56.1m for the full-back which the Italians have knocked back as they believe the Morocco international is worth close to £70m.

The report also states that Chelsea are in pole position to secure his services as they can include two players – Emerson Palmieri and Andreas Christensen – as part of an exchange for Hakimi.

It emerged this week that Chelsea's main priority this summer is to sign a striker with Erling Haaland at the top of Thomas Tuchel's wishlist.

Dortmund are not willing to part ways for the prized asset unless it's around the region of £150m, however, although the Blues can trigger his release clause next summer for a reduced fee between £65m and £86m.

The Norwegian is keen on a switch to Stamford Bridge and is ready to play the waiting game until next summer if necessary, according to reports in his homeland.

Hakimi is clearly not far down Chelsea's list of targets either and the club could well follow up their initial bid as Roman Abramovich looks to reunite the former Dortmund teammates who played together during the 2019/20 season.

Chelsea have money to play with during this window but they will also likely cash in on a number of fringe players to increase that budget.

Tammy Abraham and Callum Hodson-Odoi are among several players that could be a part of their summer clear-out.

Emerson, included on that list, revealed Italy head coach Roberto Mancini told him he needs to find a new club to revive his career.

When asked about Mancini’s advice, he told The Telegraph : "It showed that he cared about me.

"He wants to see me doing well, so he said that perhaps it would be best for me if I headed to another ambitious team where I could play as much as possible and raise my game again.

"He expressed this wish, but we know that sometimes in football, it depends on other things, a number of factors. It’s not only up to me. All I can promise, whenever I’m with the national team, is to run and play to the last drop of sweat."
