Coronation Street viewers were gobsmacked by schoolgirl Hope Stape's mega makeover, which left her fuming mum Fiz declaring she looked like "she's stepped on Love Island."

Mischief-maker Hope, played by Isabella Flanagan, was dolled up to the nines thanks to an uber glam makeover by the Underworld telesales agent, who is played by actress Ruxandra Porojnicu.

On Monday night’s episode, the 10 year old persuaded former nail technician Alina to transform her looks completely, including a face full of make up and false eyelashes.

However a fuming Fiz, played by Corrie stalwart Jennie McAlpine was less than impressed and read Alina the riot act.

“What’s that muck on your face” she fumed as the agent informed her: “We did makeovers, aren’t we pretty?”

Spotting the extent of the transformation Fiz screamed: “Are those false eyelashes?"

Outspoken Hope merely wanted to look like Little Mix, replying nonchalantly: "Like Perrie Edwards wears."

Long suffering car mechanic Tyrone Dobbs, who is Fiz's partner also felt her flame-haired wrath as she screamed at him: "Where have you been while your kids needed minding?

"Soft girl here has only gone and glued Hope’s eyes shut!"

Fans of the soap were horrified with the scene and took to Twitter to defend the weary mum with one tweeting: "As if she's glued eyelashes on little Hope!"

The soap's viewers have seen the schoolgirl spiral into rabble rousing including lying and arson. Of course, what makes the story even hotter is that Alina is having an affair with Tyrone.

This spicy mix has sent fans into a frenzy with one going so far as to predict Hope may actually harm the former beautician.

One fan predicted: “Ohhh Hope is gonna go off the rails & kill Alina and Tyrone… THE END!!"

However, show favourite Alina is set to stay on the cobbles for longer than first expected.

Actress Ruxandra 27, joined the ITV soap in 2019 and her character has been a huge hit leading to bosses reportedly wanting to extend her contract.

A source told The Sun : "Ruxandra’s character Alina Pop is currently involved in her second big storyline where she is having a fling with Tyrone Dobbs – and she is being lined up for plenty more."

Alina didn't think there was anything wrong with the 10-year-old's glam makeover

Ruxandra's character was involved in a human trafficking storyline however it was a little too close to home for the actress, who found herself in a similar situation when she first moved to the UK.

Ruxandra, arrived from Romania with just £300 when she was just 21 with dreams of a better future.

Comparing Alina's exploitation to her own experience, she said: "What really helped me at the beginning was the fact I kind of found myself in Alina's situation when I moved to the UK.

"I came with big dreams. I just wanted to work for a better future. I was a bit naive. I wouldn’t think to sign a contract."

The actress also met up with Princess Eugenie to discuss her storyline.

Ruxandra said: "She was so lovely. I was a bit overwhelmed. She was really nice. She was asking me about the storyline and how I found it. She asked me when it was going to be on TV."
