Emma Bunton has revealed that she once started lactating on stage during a Spice Girls show.

And the singer admits she had to quickly dash off stage in a bid for it to go unnoticed and not seep through her outfit.

Baby Spice said she was in a stylish Roberto Cavalli dress when the incident happened just four months after she had given birth to son Beau.

The star had been breastfeeding as well as using formula because of her hectic schedule when she took to the stage in December 2007.

The group had been touring on their Return of the Spice Girls tour and were performing at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

And Emma, 45, has vivid memories of exactly when the incident occurred.

In an extract published in The Sun from her new book Mama You Got This, the star said: "I remember it happened during Say You’ll Be There – I was wearing a rose-gold dress with an empire line and a high neck, with gold lamé that was quite close-fitting over my boobs.

"I had to get through a whole other track, Headlines, just hoping nothing was showing."

And when she dashed off stage, she enlisted the help of partner Jade Jones.

She continued: "As it ended I came running off stage screaming at Jade, ‘Babes, get the pads! Get the pads!"

Thankfully for the star, the outfit wasn't very porous and she described how the majority of the milk had "drizzled down my stomach".

However, she confessed that if anyone had looked closely during the act, they would have spotted wet patches as she was singing.

Mum-of-three Emma admitted that she hadn't taken into account the changes her body was going through before she went on tour and confessed she didn't realise just how much energy breastfeeding would require.

She said that breastfeeding alongside being on tour and having sleepless nights was not the best idea she had ever had.

"There were a lot of tears and a fair amount of self-recrimination,” she confessed.

Appearing on This Morning on Tuesday, the Wannabe singer revealed that bandmate Victoria Beckham was a big help during the tour.

She went on to tell presenters Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that while her mind was ready to tour her body wasn't.

Emma told how she asked her physio what is wrong with her as she struggled during the tour.
