The five areas in England with the lowest number of Covid cases have been revealed in the latest figures – but what are the infection numbers where you live?

But of the 315 local regions across the country, 272 have seen an increase for the seven days to June 6.

The figures are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test over the last seven days.

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

It comes as scientists warned that Covid super-variants could lead to "2020 all over again" – and bring us back to square because of vaccine imbalance.

Experts suggest the fact that some countries don't have enough jabs could cause concerning variants in future.

Eastbourne in East Sussex, South Somerset, Rutland in East Midlands, Babergh in Suffolk and Mendip in Somerset are the five areas with the most encouraging figures.
