Jake Paul is convinced Tyron Woodley expects to lose in their boxing match after meeting him for a private face-off in Miami last week.

The pair had a public media event at the Fifth Street Gym to promote their August 28 bout, but while doing a photoshoot for the fight poster, met again in a studio setting.

They had a few testy verbal exchanges at the gym while cameras were rolling, before heading their separate ways after making a number of headlines.

And with nobody but event staff and their own coaches and management teams in attendance, the pair had a much more somber meeting later in the day, which Paul seems to think told him a lot about his opponent.

"We did a little face off while we were doing a photoshoot for the assets for the poster," Paul revealed on his brother Logan's podcast Impaulsive .

"No one was there besides our teams, no media, it wasn't for the public to see, and I saw a different Tyron than I saw in the public face-off.

"I saw a Tyron who looked me in my eyes and saw with my shirt off and he just looked at me and he knew his destiny, he knew the big right hand was going to crack him in the skull and knock him out.

"I saw it in his eyes, I saw it deep down in his soul."

Paul also claimed that Woodley was wearing special soles in his shoes when they faced off at the gym, so that he would look closer in height to his competitor.

"I think he was wearing lifts in his shoes for the public face-off," Paul continued. "Because when we faced off for the second time he's a much, much shorter guy.

"We're about the same weight, he's thicc, beefy, we're both going to be cutting down to 190lbs."

The pair started feuding at Paul's last fight against Ben Askren, when in the customary glove check before the bout in his dressing room, the YouTube star and boxer J'Leon Love taunted Woodley over his lack of boxing credentials.

Love and Paul joked that while the former UFC champion may have top MMA credentials, he didn't know anything about a pair of boxing gloves.

And after Woodley came to terms with Dana White and co for his release from the promotion, talks began for a boxing match between he and Paul.

He's never boxed before, but his striking in MMA was much more fearsome than Askren, and he knocked out the likes of Robbie Lawlor on the feet during his reign as welterweight champion.

The bout takes place on Showtime Sport in the United States on August 28, the first of a multiple-fight deal for Paul that will see him look to further legitimise his boxing career by taking on a higher caliber of opponent.
