James Corden's Late Late Show has been hit by a backlash as more than 12,000 people have signed a petition to ban one of his most famous games.

Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts has been branded "culturally insensitive" as it sees celebrities choose to either answer a revealing question, or eat a dish deemed disgusting.

Many of the dishes served up for the celebrity to gag on are actually culturally Asian dishes, activist and artist Kim Saira, who began the petition on Change.org, explained on TikTok.

Stars who have taken part in the game include Harry Styles, who ate cod sperm and a water scorpion to avoid an awkward question about rumoured ex Kendall Jenner, who was sitting opposite him.

James once ate a turkey testicle to avoid answering the question of which is Will Ferrell's worst film, as the actor was sitting with him.

The petition reads: "The foods that are presented are meant to be 'gross,' as they are supposed to encourage the guest to answer his questions instead.

"However, many of the foods that he presents to his guests are actually from different Asian cultures.

"He's presented foods such as balut, century old eggs and chicken feet, and which are often regularly eaten by Asian people."

During these segments, [Corden] openly called these foods 'really disgusting,' and 'horrific.'

"In the wake of the constant Asian hate crimes that have continuously been occurring, not only is this segment incredibly culturally offensive and insensitive, but it also encourages anti-Asian racism.

"So many Asian Americans are consistently bullied and mocked for their native foods, and this segment amplifies and encourages it."

The petition calls for the food to be changed, a formal apology, and a donation to local Asian-American organisations working to help Asian-owned restaurants and small businesses.

The Mirror has contacted a representative for James Corden and The Late Late Show.

One donor commented: "Seeing my cultures food used as a joke is offensive and lazy. Make better jokes."

Another wrote: "I don't support TV ratings through cultural mockery."

A third added: "This is how anti-Asian racism is perpetuated. This segment is nothing short of racist, xenophobic, orientalist, and wrong. Asian food is not “disgusting” but this segment is."
