Piers Morgan has posed for a cosy picture with his BBC rival Dan Walker as the two men played golf on the same course.

"Can’t believe it… turn up at Wentworth and guess who is in the group in front???? Yep… @piersmorgan," BBC Breakfast presenter Dan wrote on Twitter.

The pair smiled in a relaxed picture together with Dan revealing he watched from the sidelines as Piers "delivered the goods" and celebrated by waving his arms in the air after hitting a good ball in front of a small crowd of spectators.

The interaction may fuel speculation that Piers is considering joining the BBC presenting team, after the 56-year-old made comments implying he might.

When Ben's co-host Louise Minchin announced she was leaving the BBC Breakfast team after twenty years recently, Piers suggested he would be filling her shoes.

"Stop blubbing Dan – I start Monday," Piers warned on Twitter.

"BBC wanted the guy who beat you in the ratings, and the first same-sex male breakfast presenting team to appease the wokies."

His response came after Dan teased Piers over his Good Morning Britain earlier this year.

Dan tweeted at the time of the fallout: "Sorry to hear the news about your departure from GMB @piersmorgan.

"If you'd like to come on the UK's number 1 breakfast show to talk about it… we could make some space for you in the morning."

Speculation has been rife about which station Piers would sign up to next after suddenly clearing his schedule with his comments about Meghan Markle.

He walked off set midway through the morning programme after an on-screen fallout with weather presenter Alex Beresford, following Piers' remarks that he didn't believe Markle when she said she felt suicidal.

Later that day it was announced he wouldn't be returning to the show.

There's also been speculation Piers may rejoin Good Morning Britain or go to Andrew Neil's new station, GB News.

In an interview on This Morning, GB News chairman Andrew Neil said discussions with Piers are ongoing but that ITV "pay him too much to do nothing."

"No, Piers is not amongst the launch, we’ll still discussing Piers," Andrew said.

“The problem is, I hope your bosses are watching in, this network is paying him far too much to do nothing, so he doesn’t have to make up his mind!"

And Andrew also said in an interview with Radio Times that he didn't believe Piers would want another morning show job, adding that "all my indications are that Piers doesn’t want another breakfast show. But I think if he does any more British news TV it’s more likely to be with us than with anybody else."

Recently, Piers fuelled speculation of a GMB return, after the host claimed ITV have "reached out."

"As the Americans say, they reached out," he told The Sun. "There have been approaches to test the water in the wake of their obvious ratings issues."

Good Morning Britain also recently aired a throwback segment of the presenter hugging his former co-presenter Susanna Reid.
