Lindsay Lohan's gearing up for a return to making films, and her new role has more than one similarity with The Parent Trap, the iconic role which first made her famous.
To start off, according to Variety she'll be playing a “newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress [who] finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter."
Does that ring any bells? The story line of Lindsay's new movie sounds incredibly similar to the 1998 classic!
Fans of The Parent Trap will remember that Lindsay played the precocious daughter in that movie, and one of the leading adult characters was Meredith, played by Elaine Hendrix, who was – you've guessed it – a spoiled young singleton who ended up dating Lindsay's character's father, played by Dennis Quaid.

On a darker note, Lindsay's character develops memory loss after a skiing accident, according to Variety. Tragically, Natasha Richardson, who played Lindsay's mum in The Parent Trap, passed away in 2009 after sustained injuries to her head from a skiing accident.
Lindsay, who turns 35 today, hasn't acted much over the past few years, and so this film, currently pegged to be released for Christmas 2022, is being marked as her comeback.

What's she been up to if not acting? In 2019 Lindsay launched Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club, a reality series about her attempt to open a club in Greece, and that same year she appeared as a judge on the Australian version of The Masked Singer.
In terms of working as an actor, Lindsay appeared as a series regular alongside Rupert Grint in his 2018 series Sick Note, and in a thriller called Among The Shadows in 2019.
Before that, her last film credit on IMDb was a thriller called The Canyons, back in 2013.

Lindsay may not have been acting much, but that doesn't mean the star's had a lack of income. LiLo's also releasing music, and her latest single Lullaby sold recently for £85,000 as an NFT, or non-fungible token, which is essentially a digital piece of art which is personally made by Lindsay.
"I believe that what makes a great NFT is creating something that tells a story through a new medium," she told Interview magazine.

"By using technology, I can now elevate my life stories and tell them in ways that are more authentic to me."
Posting on Instagram earlier today, the star explained that she'd had "the most magical birthday with family and friends," and shared a picture of her pink birthday cake, which had "love you" written in icing around the edge.
The rest of the cast for the Netflix Christmas movie has yet to be announced, and neither has the project's title.
