Elizabeth Hurley’s son Damian was cut out of his own family’s fortune for being born out of wedlock, it is claimed.

On Friday, actress Elizabeth, 56, shared her despair after her 19-year-old son was disinherited by the family of his late father, Steve Bing, who tragically took his own life last year at the age of 55, at the behest of his grandfather.

While Steve had endured a distant relationship with Damian for most of his life, he had started building a more solid relationship when his son turned 18.

Steve’s father, Peter Bing, however, had worked to keep Elizabeth’s son, and his 23-year-old half-sister Kira Bonder, locked out of family inheritance.

Steve had successfully defeated his father in court to overturn his attempt to exclude both children from family trust funds – only for Peter to now overturn the ruling in his favour a year after Steve’s death.

Peter had the ruling overturned due to Damian and his half-sister Kira – who is the daughter of former pro tennis player Lisa Bonder, 55 – being born out of wedlock.

Quoting Elizabeth, The Daily Mail reported: “[Steve] was happy beyond belief that the trial verdict ruled that Damian was to be treated like his sister’s children as far as the trust was concerned.

“I am just relieved that Stephen will never know that Damian’s relatives — Stephen’s father and the family of his sister Mary — were ultimately successful in their appeal against the original trial verdict.”

Elizabeth had dated Bing for 18 months between 2000 and 2002 before they split amid a bitter paternity row when he initially refused to have anything to do with Damian.

Despite the furore, the late film producer and Damian reconnected years later when he was 18 and had a relationship before he tragically passed away.

Steve was the founder of Shangri-La Entertainment after he had dropped out of Stanford to pursue a career in Hollywood following his inheritance of around $600 million from his grandfather.

The vicious court result, and Elizabeth’s statement, comes just days after Damian himself reflected on his father’s death.

He wrote on Instagram towards the end of last month: “A year ago today, my mother and I received some devastating news. I didn’t realise at the time quite how much it would affect me.

“We all like to show ‘perfect’ versions of our lives- for me, the idea of publicly discussing something as personal as grief is terrifying… but sometimes it’s necessary.

“The last year has been bloody hard- for everyone on the planet- and I think acknowledging that is vital. It’s not weak to struggle. In fact, to get through to the other side is immensely strong. Thank you so much for all your messages today, I love you all.”
