Squeamish viewers be warned: ITV’s new celebrity cooking show begins with a bloodbath.
Presenter Emma Willis admits the medics working on Cooking With The Stars “got more airtime than me”.
The show sees eight celebrities, including McFly drummer Harry Judd, funnyman Johnny Vegas and dancer Shirley Ballas, pair up with chef mentors to try to make restaurant-quality food.
But their kitchen skills could have done with some sharpening.
Emma, who co-hosts with comic Tom Allen, said: “Because of the pressure they were trying to do everything too quickly.
“And they had professional knives, which they’ve never handled before, so there was a lot of nicks and cuts.

“Harry Judd cut himself within the first two minutes – the first chop he made he took the end of his little finger off."
“He did his cooking kind of racing towards the end, adrenalin pumping, plated everything up, kind of stood back and he just took it all in.
“And I said, is your hand alright and he went, 'Yes, it's a bit sweaty in there'.

“And as they reset the cameras, he kind of looked in and pulled it back a bit.
“I was like 'That's not sweat, dude, that's blood'.
Medics were quick to appear with blue plasters and gloves to ensure there was “zero spillage” into the food, she said.
Emma added: “Johnny Vegas cut himself at the start and Shirley too, and Denise [van Outen] can’t use sharp knives, so she used blunt knives for everything.”

Emma, 45, says the show has inspired her to cook more but having three kids mean her and husband Matt Willis rarely have a romantic meal.
She said: “I can do a few things well so I tend to stick to that, I'm a creature of habit. But this show has kind of made me realise that actually that I need to maybe try a bit harder, it has inspired me.”
Other contestants taking part include actor Griff Rhys-Jones, songwriter Naughty Boy, actress Catherine Tyldesley and TV presenter AJ Odudu.
*Cooking With The Stars starts next Tuesday at 9pm on ITV.
