Last night's Love Island saw one of the fiercest rows in the show's history take place.

Scenes showed P.E teacher Hugo Hammond in tears after he confessed to some of the things that turn him off in a potential love match during a couples challenge.

Some of the women inside the villa did not like that Hugo admitted that he was not keen on 'fake personality and looks' which led to Sharon Gaffka and Faye Winter kicking off.

Things became tense when the singletons had to share on their biggest turn-offs.

When Hugo had to speak up on what he deems unattractive in a partner, he said: "Fake, yeah. Personality and looks."

Describing his dream girlfriend, he told: "Leggy blonde. Not fake."

It seemed that Hugo selecting the word "fake" triggered an upset response from two of his co-stars in particular – Faye and Sharon.

Faye, annoyed at Hugo, hit out: "That word keeps getting thrown around, doesn’t it?"

Sharon claimed that Hugo's words were "ignorant as f**k" and then dubbed him "such a pr***."

Sharon then pulled Rachel Finni away to vent.

"I don’t f***king buy into this nice guy act, it is f**ing pissing me off. It is such an unfair comment if you are not into it."

Rachel added: "If you are not clued up and educated on the reason why people end up doing that thing.

"Maybe he’s just insulting them as the ones he wants he sees as fake."

Sharon then said : "He's grafted two girls in here who've obviously had stuff done. Are you f**king serious?!

"It's so unfair to criticise somebody when you don't even know and you've not even spoken to them about it.

"I'm f**king p***ed off."

Hugo was oblivious to any offence he caused until some of the boys mentioned the girls weren't happy with him.

Aaron Francie offered his support and told him he would be by his side as they "couldn't throw him to the wolves."

Hugo then walked up to Sharon and asked: "Hey gorge, can I have a chat with you?"

He then began: "So the boys have brought to my attention how I upset everyone.

"First and foremost I am really sorry."

Faye fumed that she did not care if he was upset

Sharon replied: "I get it if you're not into fake stuff or girls who look fake that is fine but for me, you don’t know the reason why we’ve had stuff done.

"I think that is really unfair, I wouldn’t turn around to a guy and say I wouldn’t date you because of your height or I wouldn’t date you because of your race."

Hugo said: "Looks-wise, Faye isn't my type!" and went on to apologise again and asked Sharon how he could make it up to her.

"There is not a lot you can do is there really? You've said you are sorry and that is fine. Like I am short-tempered and I don't want it to affect long term relationships, like, no matter what the boundaries are," she hit back.

Hugo then started crying and added: "I feel like I have let you down."

She then went to the beach hut and continued: "I think I was just annoyed as a mate."

Sharon added" "I respect him enough to say to him, what you’re saying is upsetting me.' Me being angry at first was an overreaction but I am doing it from a caring place."

Hugo then updated the boys and said "he deserved it."

The boys comforted Hugo who apoligised

Aaron – who is partnered up with Sharon – said he "didn't deserve it" and shared that he believes she should have pulled Hugo privately to discuss her issues rather than making a scene.

Hugo broke down and the boys reassured him it was "misinterpreted."

"I didn’t mean anything malicious did I?" he added between sobs.

Trying to make amends, he added: "I just didn’t mean to upset anyone, that’s the last thing I wanted."
