Kate Garraway gave viewers an update on her husband Derek Draper's health as she hosted Good Morning Britain on Friday.
The mum-of-two was joined by Alastair Campbell on the ITV show and at the beginning of the episode, she mentioned that he knows her "old man".
“I know your old man incredibly well. Used to work with him, occasionally against him," Alastair replied with a grin on his face.
“Yeah I’ve heard all the stories from him, I’ve heard all the stories, he’s warned me so I’m fully braced and prepared," Kate, 54, joked.
Alastair then turned the conversation to Derek's ongoing health battle and asked how he's doing.

"He’s alright, he’s alright," Kate replied. "He’s very up and down, we’re certainly not a long way out of the woods."
Referring to why he came home earlier this year, Kate confirmed: "Not because he was better, no. But being home has meant we’ve seen some things improved.
"Definitely having the family around, having the children around has provided stimulation and I think the problem is you latch on to the positives, which is good because you have to, but there’s absolutely no doubt that there’s huge challenges ahead," Kate added.
Kate said there's 'no doubt that there’s huge challenges ahead' regarding Derek's recovery
Derek has been seriously ill since March 2020 after he contracted Covid-19 and was admitted to an intensive care unit.
In June it was revealed that Kate had been told her hubby is unlikely to recover if there isn’t any progress two years on from catching the deadly virus that has ravaged his poorly body.
Derek continues to require special round-the-clock care as he struggles to recover from the effects of his respiratory illness, which caused him to lose eight stone in weight – and also tragically suffer kidney failure, damage to his liver and pancreas, and heart failure.
Kate's GMB co-host Alistair Campbell was keen to ask her about Derek's condition
And at one point, perhaps understandably given the terrifying ordeal he’s gone through, Derek admitted he feared he couldn’t go on as the illness took its toll.
And now doctors have warned that even though Derek has moved out of the acute phase of the virus into a chronic phase, the 53-year-old is still “very sick” and at “serious risk of dying”, admitted Kate.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
