A schoolgirl has died after being hit by a car in Kent at the weekend.

The 10-year-old suffered serious injuries after being struck while walking along a street in Dartford just before 7pm on Saturday evening.

She was rushed to hospital in London but died last night around 24 hours later, police said.

The driver of a yellow Audi S1 was arrested before the girl’s death on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while impaired.

A man, in his 50s, has since been released on bail until August, according to Kent Police.
