Forgotten Manchester City defender Pedro Porro has amazingly claimed that he has never spoken to Pep Guardiola – despite being on the club's books for nearly two years.

The 21-year-old Spaniard made the move to the Etihad from Girona in the summer of 2019 for a fee of around £11m after catching the eye in La Liga.

Since then he has been sent out on loan spells to Valladolid and Sporting Lisbon, and is still yet to make a senior appearance for City.

Speaking in an interview with Portuguese outlet A Bola, Porra appeared far from impressed with his treatment from Guardiola, and has hinted that he could well make a permanent move in the near future.

"No, I've never talked to Pep Guardiola," he said. "I don't think he even knows they (City) hired me. But they must be aware of what I've been doing.

"I can't say anything, what I can tell you is that next [this] week there could be something big."

Porro formed an important part of the Sporting side which won the Primeira Liga last season, making 30 appearances in the division and scoring three goals and creating three assists.

And he also won the league's best defender of the month awards for November, December and January.

It is widely expected that he will join up on a permanent basis in the near future, with him seemingly playing no part in Guardiola's plans for the future.

Porro is reported to have a £7.2m buy-out clause in his City contract, and this looks set to be activated by Sporting.

This is not the first time a fringe City player has hit out at Guardiola's methods.

Their former full-back Angelino earlier this year slammed the Catalan manager for the way he dealt with him.

“Pep killed me and my self-confidence,” Angelino told BILD.

“After my move from Eindhoven back to City, he had already passed his judgement on me in two preparation games and didn’t give me a real chance again after that."

And one of Guardiola's ex-players from Bayern Munich, Dante, also said in the past: "He doesn't speak to you so as a player you don't know where you stand.

"There are coaches who are world-class from a tactical point of view, but who aren't good on a human level and this is the case with Guardiola."
