Director Zack Snyder has described the prospect of a Superman movie with a Black actor in the lead role as a “probably long overdue move”.
It was reported last week that a Superman film with a Black actor in the role was in the works at Warner Bros., with Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams producing the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Now following this news, Snyder – who told a version of Superman’s story in the films Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League – has given his verdict on the idea when speaking to The Mirror and other media outlets.
“My feeling is that you know, I'm a fan,” revealed Snyder. “I love J.J. and I love what he's done.”

Meanwhile, Snyder’s enduring love for British actor Henry Cavill’s interpretation of the Man of Steel is also clear.
“But I love Henry as Superman," he added. "Of course, I do. He's my Superman.”

Yet the director made clear that he had no role in decision making at Warner Bros surrounding the films and whether both iterations could co-exist in films when asked.
He added that of the 'Black Superman' film concept that he will wait and see “how it manifests itself”, but added that on a surface level “it seems interesting.”
