British mother’s missing son, 3, found dead near father’s body in suspected murder-suicide

A British woman’s missing three-year-old son has been found dead inside a burned out car in Portugal near the body of his father following a suspected murder-suicide.

The mother has been named as Phoebe Arnold, a celebrity stylist from London, who was living as a British expat in Lisbon.

Hunters made the gruesome discovery on Sunday morning in mountains near the village of Santa Margarida da Serra 80 miles south of Lisbon.

The body of a 40-year-old German man, named as Clemens Weisshaar, was near the gutted vehicle and had a gunshot wound to his head.

The boy was apparently reported missing by Ms Arnold a week ago after her ex-partner failed to return him following a weekend visit and went on the run with him.

The three-year-old boy has been named as Tasso.

Ms Arnold had reported Tasso missing when Weisshar, who had an office in the Portugese town of Grandola near the capital, did not return him by Nov 1 as promised.

The child’s body was reportedly found near a remote piece of land the parents had bought to build a house on.

Police in Portugal are understood to have been searching for the missing father and son since the start of the week when the child’s mother went to police.

Portugal’s Judicial Police are leading the investigation. There has been no official comment from the force so far.

Weisshaar separated from Ms Arnold in July, according to Portuguese daily Jornal de Noticias.

The couple had dated from around 2016, according to social media posts. The pair had been pictured together at parties thrown for New York Fashion Week in 2017.

Ms Arnold, whose celebrity clients include Paloma Faith, and has been pictured with supermodel Gigi Hadid, also became ELLE magazine’s Fashion Director in 2017.
