During her career, the Surrey-born newsreader has worked as a senior presenter on the BBC News at Six and the BBC News at Ten.

She also presents the BBC’s Election Night coverage alongside other broadcasters.

During her temporary position, the BBC will undertake a recruitment process for a permanent presenter before relaunching with a new title and look.

His last show will be broadcast on 19 December.
