THE race for the Democratic nomination to fight the 2020 presidential election is hotting up as more candidates enter the race.

Who is Amy Klobuchar?
The 58-year-old is currently a Democratic Senator for Minnesota, her home state.
After graduating from Yale University and Chicago Law School she worked as a lawyer in a private firm before becoming a chief prosecutor for Hennepin, Minnesota's most populous county, in 1998.
She was first elected in 2006 and re-elected last year with a 24 point margin.
Over the years she has earned a reputation for being steady and has prided herself for her bi-partisan approach.
She wrote in her 2015 memoir that politicians could "disagree without being disagreeable".
"Courage is about whether or not you're willing to stand next to someone you don't always agree with for the betterment of this country," she wrote.
Klobuchar has been described as being "Minnesota nice" though it was reported her Republican rivals dubbed her "Cotton Candy Amy" and "The Senator of Small Things".
Her low approach meant Klobuchar went under the radar for many years.

That changed last year when her tense exchange with Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing over his history of drinking went viral.
In January 2019 she clashed with Trump’s nomination for attorney general William Barr during his confirmation hearings.
In the run up to her announcement she would be running for president, her reputation for niceness suffered a blow when it emerged three staff members resigned over alleged mistreatment.
According to the Huffington Post, Klobuchar is demeaning and would humiliate staff in emails cc’d to their colleagues.
A spokesman, however, said she “loves her staff ― they are the reason she has gotten to where she is today” adding that many “have been with her for years”.
Well, it happened again. Amy Klobuchar announced that she is running for President, talking proudly of fighting global warming while standing in a virtual blizzard of snow, ice and freezing temperatures. Bad timing. By the end of her speech she looked like a Snowman(woman)!

What has Donald Trump said about her?
Trump mocked Senator Amy Klobuchar for kicking off her 2020 presidential bid with a speech about global warming in a blizzard.
The US President took to Twitter to say the Democrat “looked like a Snowman(woman)” by the end of her rousing speech.
He attempted to claim that it was “bad timing” for the politician to “talk proudly of fighting global warming while standing in a virtual blizzard of snow, ice and freezing temperatures.”
But Klobuchar immediately fired back and told Trump “science is on my side”.
